Farmhouse Renovation Weekend 1

Weekend 1 complete-little progress.

OK, I did not realize how much work this was going to be!!!

Mike and I headed over to Forrest Grove to Sarah & Chris's 1910 Farmhouse they recently purchased. It is a bank repo and they got a good deal on it, but let me just say...

WOW, we have our work cut out!!!

This is the first time we have been inside.

Here is the house. As you can kind of see to the right there is an addition.

This addition is slopping down hill.

First step: raise the foundation to level up the room.

After what seemed like hours of trying to locate how to get under the house,

then realizing we cant, its very small down there, we had no choice but to cut through the floor.

Pulling up carpet, finding duct tape everywhere (a fix all), we finally got to the

tongue and groove.

Once we exposed under the house we realized there really isn't any foundation.

Just beams and a couple of concrete pads.

We did what we could to raise it up and made a little bit of progress on the outside wall.

Sarah and I did find some treasure down there which was really exciting.

Here is an old canning jar dated November 30, 1858. We were really excited.

An old beautiful plate. Unfortunately it was broken. But that really didn't matter to us.

I love the crazing and the detail is all in gold.

Here is a close up of the jar. We also found some really old zinc lids too.

Chris will be getting a few windows in that he ordered this week.
We will be back next weekend to finish trying to raise the room.
After the room is complete we will work on the windows, then we can paint.
We are hoping for some good weather as we will need to tear off, re-sheet and re-roof .
Did I mention how tire we are????
