Paint It or Leave It????

I got this beautiful buffet yesterday and automatically had the intent on painting it white and distressing it to tone down the "Fancy"
However, the more I look at it the more I think "I should leave it".
I need my blogger friends to help me decide....
What do you think
Paint it or leave it???
Blessings
Stay cool

Oh, Julie, the big question..... I am from the era (read that over 60) when painting a piece like that was unthinkable. I still feel that way...however, times have changed. And I admit to liking painted furniture. My answer would be leave it for now and if it doesn't sell as is you can always paint it later.

I agree with Annette. I think that if the piece is not damaged in anyway (water spots, major scratches, etc.) it is unthinkable to paint it.

That is a hard one, depends on what you are going to do with it. Maybe take it to a sale, see what happens, then decide. Hugs to you. Florence

I love the dark wood, it looks beautiful as it is. Not everyone is a fan of painted furniture! If it's in good shape, I'd definitely just put some furniture polish on it and then sit back and watch someone fall in love with it...
Have fun at BH! Lisa :-)

I love painted funiture, but this piece is not painted, why would you paint it?

Repainting in my book is good, taking a antique and ruining it for a fad not such a good idea, just my opinion.

If it's beautiful and not damaged; leave it. It looks so pretty as is.
I look foward to checking out your stuff at the barn market!
