I have been very busy selling lots of furniture at my spot in Camas....It is flying out the door.

What's New.....

It's been awhile since I have posted so I thought I would be a good blogger and give you some updates on what's new.

Sunday I moved out of up my booth space at Monticello. I felt like I just couldn't give it the attention that it deserved with our family happenings, work and the shop being in Portland.

I will really miss my Monticello family and appreciate all that they have done for us!!!

Mid November I did however take a space at Camas Antiques!!!

Being that it is 5 minutes from my house, I have help from family when needed, and I really didn't want to give up junkin...It felt so right!!!

Here are some pics of my booth.

Lots has sold...so it looks a little different now.

Sidney update:

We go in on Monday to meet with the radiation oncologist to discuss radiation. This was very scary to us at first...we were really hoping to bypass radiation if her tumors shrunk enough. One did but the other one just not enough. So we have elected to do radiation and just be done with it....The good thing is they say she wont have any side effects from it and will continue growing hair :0 which is a good thing.

Getting Some of my Creativity Back

My very good friend JoDee met me at Monticello last week and helped me do a little booth redo. I finally feel some of my creativity coming back.....

Here is my most recent piece that I have finished.

Amazing what a little white paint and a sander will do.

Sidney has finished her first two week session of chemo. Now we are on our two weeks off.....

She is starting to loose her hair :( That is the most emotional part for her..and me.

We are lucky that she has not had any nausea or flu like symptoms.

Most of her side effects are from her high dose of steroids.

Thank you all for your prayers and I will keep you all updated!!

I also want to thank my Monticello family for all your donations, words of kindness, love, prayers and support!

A Heartfelt Thank You!

Just wanted to thank all my wonderful blogger friends and non blogger friends for the wonderful prayers, card and donations that were given to me on Sunday.

I was so touched by all!

Some may know this and some may not. It is very hard to talk about....

Thursday we received news that our daughter has Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

It is going to be a long hard road....Lots of tears and fear of the unknown.

I know we will make it through with love and support from my wonderful friends, family and God.

Say another prayer for us...

Life's Unexpected

I am writing this post from Doernbecher hospital.

Wednesday night I took Sidney to the ER. She was running a fever, vomiting, diarrhea and had fainted a couple of times through out the day.

Her heart rate was 186, BP had dropped to 75/32, had a 103 temp with blue cold feet.

It is a good thing I was scared to death and decided to take her in.

We were transported to Doernbecher ICU at 10:30 that night.

First we were told she had pneumonia and sepsis, then when we arrived at Doernbecher they told us she had toxic shock syndrome. We are still here, however Sid is making great improvement. We are finally waiting to move from the ICU. It is unfortunate that I needed to cancel my show next weekend. I am disappointed but know that I do not need the extras stress of a show.

Please say a little prayer for us. Life is full of the enexpected!

Barn House & a Booth Update

I finally got over to Monticello, brought some new things and did a little sprucing up!!!

I have been so exhausted since Barn House....

Here is a chair I created just for the show.

I wish I had about 5 of these....It flew out the door.

For some reason I only got photos during set up...So please disregard the treasures out of place.

Some Finds and a BIG Thank You

Last night Mike and I broke down the window display at Camas Antique Mall.

I had the most wonderful time there!!!

JoAnn and the staff are welcoming and I enjoyed being a part of the family.

Also, I had the best store sales ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone who came out to support me and all the customers who purchased a new treasure or two!!!

Recently I purchased this old workbench in Long Beach from 92 year old man.

I pictured this in a large kitchen with vintage kitchen utensils and cookbooks.

I will be taking this out to Barn House for the show on the 30th of July.

Mark your calendars!!

These chairs are to die for!!!

Black iron with some french flair.

I will be adding a new cushion to them all...I was thinking either some burlap, toile or drop cloth.

Some Projects in the Works

Here is a wonderful farm table I picked up last week.

It had some green ink on the top, nothing a little sanding didn't cure.

Now I will put on a final coat of wax to the top of this beauty.

It will be presented at the long anticipated 2011 Vintage Country Marketplace presented by the Barn House Boys!!!

Here is another treasure that will either make its way to Barn House or Monticello.

A lovely french table!

Finished in my special recipe.

This cute french end table will also get my special finish.

Updating Spaces

I did a little updating at Camas Antique Mall last night.

I brought in some wonderful new smalls, in addition to a rolling cabinet that would work great in a TV or game room.

Lots of storage underneath.

If you haven't been to the awesome little town of Camas...It's worth the trip.

A Graduation to Remember!

My middle baby graduated last Saturday night.

It's hard to believe she's really "out of school".

An official adult!!!

Shelby's grandfather, mother, father, and aunt all graduated from Washougal High School.

It's weird that some of her teachers were my teachers....

She's been a little grumpy...Pressure of "What am I gonna do now" maybe.

We Will Always Remember!

Today is Shelby's 18th Birthday.

After work we will head to dinner to celebrate. Then we are off to the beach!!!

I will be away from the computer for a few days so wanted to wish everyone a fabulous

Memorial Day.

This is a special time for us. Mike who is ex-army who served in Germany and Sarah's dad who is ex-marine who served in Desert Storm.

Putting country first!!

Weekend Finds

Jodee and I had a wonderful yard sale Saturday!!!

We plan to do it again in September.

After the yard sale Mike and I hit a couple of sales.

Here are some treasures I found.

I love this little cabinet.

Primitive colonial quilt, large gold frame that once held a mirror, cement urn, wire basket, monogrammed linen euro pillow slip, small gold frame, crazed blue table, little ivory cabinet.

Love Love it!!!

And this lovely lamp. I have just the right shade too!!!

You will find these treasure at Camas Antique Mall starting June 1st right in the window!!!

This post is a little hard for me to write.

Why, you might ask....well I just don't know where to start.

Here is what I am feeling.

Overwhelmed!!!!

How do my hobbies end up being full time jobs???

I work full time in addition to this hobby and this part is not an option.

Six months out of the year I am the bread winner due to my husbands occupation.

I make really good money and have incredible benefits in which my family needs!!!!

I go home from a 8 hour day, sand, paint, price, distress, wax, etc...You see the picture.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE junkin and would never give that up!!!

But its time to decide how much is too much.

I have really been missing the once a month show scene.

Packin up my treasures, heading to shows, displaying what I love and visiting with fellow junkers and customers who love what I create...That's the part I dig!!!

But, I cannot seem to work in shows with an antique booth and a full time job!!!

Sometimes I feel really stressed when a piece of furniture sells and I don't have anything to replace it....Prices are too high and I cannot find anything I like.

Then the junkin part becomes stress...Whats a girl to do.

So fellow bloggers I am looking for words of wisdom....

I said a prayer and now am just waiting for "the answer"

Anyone else ever feel this way????

A Great Mothers Day

Hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day!!!

Mike and Sid took me on a day drive up the Columbia River Gorge.

The weather seemed to be a little nicer than home.

We made a stop at Wind River Cellars to sample some wine.

Did not come home empty handed!!!

This was the most peaceful little lake on the way to the cellar.

I really wanted go swim....bbrrrrr

Some Roofing and Projects Complete!

Sunday I enjoyed the sunshine and completed some projects I have been working on.

Here is a french dresser that went from drab to FAB!!!

With a little elbow grease.

Love this little french side table.

It had a damaged leather top and was in poor repair. But now....

Wow do I really have to sell that???

This frame was a beautiful bronze gold color, but had some dark spots all over it.

A little white paint and tea stain turned it into a true treasure.

These treasures will be featured in the Camas Antique Mall

window display for the month of June.

Saturday we headed out to Forest Grove to start on Sarah and Chris's roof.

We tackled the worst first!!!

Tear off of the old roofing and rotted sheeting.

On with the new!!!

A little ice and water, some 30lb felt. These skylights wont leak ever again!
Just this back section took the entire day...Wow Mike, Sarah and Chris were pooped!!
I had the easy job of fetching things, taking pics, drink shagger.
PS I don't do anything high!!

If I was one of those organized junkers I would have strategically placed it all in my yard and took really pretty pictures so you would go oooohhh aaahhhh.

Sorry, that's just not me!!! :)

French table, rusty pink wire rack in the back right hand corner-love them both!!

Solar lanterns, law books, white cement pot, candle sticks, old bottles in the box, lovely red and aqua wool blanket, chair cushions I will use at out beach property, pink "Annie get your gun" music sheet, and many more treasures hiding behind things.

PS, my hands were shaky because of all the exquisite treasures.

I wanted those chairs soooooo bad. I dont think they would pass as a carry on......NOT TO MENTION A LITTLE SPENDY.

Their kitchen for entertaining!!!

Signed copies of Rachel Ashwells book. We just had missed the book signing. Darn!!!

This cabinet was incredible!!! I drooled for at least 5 minutes.

Farmhouse Renovation Weekend 1

Weekend 1 complete-little progress.

OK, I did not realize how much work this was going to be!!!

Mike and I headed over to Forrest Grove to Sarah & Chris's 1910 Farmhouse they recently purchased. It is a bank repo and they got a good deal on it, but let me just say...

WOW, we have our work cut out!!!

This is the first time we have been inside.

Here is the house. As you can kind of see to the right there is an addition.

This addition is slopping down hill.

First step: raise the foundation to level up the room.

After what seemed like hours of trying to locate how to get under the house,

then realizing we cant, its very small down there, we had no choice but to cut through the floor.

Pulling up carpet, finding duct tape everywhere (a fix all), we finally got to the

tongue and groove.

Once we exposed under the house we realized there really isn't any foundation.

Just beams and a couple of concrete pads.

We did what we could to raise it up and made a little bit of progress on the outside wall.

Sarah and I did find some treasure down there which was really exciting.

Here is an old canning jar dated November 30, 1858. We were really excited.

An old beautiful plate. Unfortunately it was broken. But that really didn't matter to us.

I love the crazing and the detail is all in gold.

Here is a close up of the jar. We also found some really old zinc lids too.

Here are the guys and their hole.
Chris will be getting a few windows in that he ordered this week.
We will be back next weekend to finish trying to raise the room.
After the room is complete we will work on the windows, then we can paint.
We are hoping for some good weather as we will need to tear off, re-sheet and re-roof .
Did I mention how tire we are????

Guess Who's Going to Round Top???

I will be heading to Round Top Texas on the 28th of March..aaaahhhhhhhhhh

I am so excited.

I will be going with my good friend Lisa of the Back Porch & Co. Jenn and Laurie.

We are going to have so much fun. Junk Gypsys, Magnolia Pearl and sooo many more.

I cannot wait.

This will be the second time I have ever gone on a trip without my husband or kids.

I have talked myself out of this a million times just so Mike can talk me back into it.

He's a good guy (and so cute too!!)

I will be sure to take tons of pics to bring back and share :)

Busy Saturday and a visit with the "BOYS"

OK, so this is one of those blog posts that were I dont have any of my own pics.

Why you might why??? Well my phone camera did not like the lighting in the little schoolhouse where the "Boys" were holding a special show with a very special guest, Natalie of Sparrow.

On Saturday found a wonderful hutch on craigslist.

The man told me to come pick it up at 12:30 tomorrow.

Checked the post that morning and the price went up $25.00, emailed before I left for downtown Portland confirming the price. An half hour later I get a email that it sold...

Wow, thanks A LOT!!!!

Well that pretty much depressed me.

So we dropped the kids off at the skate park, picked up dog bones and the best pepperoni in the world from Butcher Boys in Vancouver, got gas, the kids were cold, come get me, picked up the kids and decided to go visit the boys. We were dying for some of that salsa!!!

Well as my luck was going J & J were fresh out of fresh salsa!!!!

aaahhh

I did score the most wonderful black/grey french table, you know that one by the entrance....Yup that's mine now :)

Saturday night was spent with Chris & Sarah. Had some yummy dinner at Red Robin and then went to see their new house in Forrest Grove.

I am sooo envious. They purchased a 1910 farm house!

I would have taken pictures but it was dark.

Needs work but look who she has for parents!!!

I will post pics soon.

Well I have rambled too much already.

Stay warm and dry.

I am not looking forward to the 7 days of rain that are in the forecast :(

Sprucin up at Monticello

Mike and I did a little sprucin up at Monticello yesterday.

I took in that wonderful ingredient bin below.

This little darlin could be used for iced drinks in the summer, craft room, garage,

art supplies...the possibilities are endless.....

There's that gorgeous primitive white cupboard that I love!!!

Above is the chair I gave a makeover to.

It was ugly brown 70's cast off. Now shabby french comes to mind.

A Little White Paint

Well it didn't sell at Monticello.

So.... I brought it home and painted the brown wood a creamy white and took the sander to it.

I love how it turned out!!!

Distressed and ready for my bum every night while I read all the wonderful blogs out there!!!

WELL, I had to run and buy it.

They did this wonderful article on my friend Isabel Lang from Maison Douce.

A Friday Well Spent!

My beautiful daughter Shelby asked me to be a chaperon on their marine biology field trip to the Oregon Coast.

Since this is her last year and I haven't volunteered much during her school career

I immediately said yes!!!

The weather was rainy and windy of course,

but I managed to get a great shot of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.

Isn't it magnificent.

Back in the day a lighthouse keeper would make anywhere from

$600.00 to $1000.00 per year and free housing.

These touch tanks were lots of fun...and boy was the water cold!!!!

Where Has All The Good Junk Gone????

OK, is anyone else having a hard time finding good junk at an affordable price????

The GW has been really sucky....

Photos of estate sales leave me wondering...OK is it worth the drive???

Nothing is catching my eye lately...

Yesterday Mike and I spent the day in Kalama junkin....

First shop....my only treasure was a 1/2 gallon blue canning jar.....

Second shop.....Nothing and wayyyy too expensive.

Third shop....Tall ironstone pitcher....It was 20% off..

Fourth shop.....Nothing and lots of bad junk..

Fifth shop....short ironstone pitcher and everything else...way too expensive.

These shops do not even compare to Monticello.....I am so spoiled.

It is really the best Antique Marketplace around.

So lets all say a chant to the ya ya sisterhood of good junk that we will be blessed in the upcoming weeks with bounds of treasures that are easy to find :)

What could be better than ringing in the New Year with a bottle of champagne in dixie cups and some yahtzee???

It was cold at the beach so we had to sit by alot of this to warm up!!!

We saw a lot of this too....So pretty

New But Old Treasures

Mike and I have been working on prettying up the house.

I found a lovely corner TV cabinet ($25.00) early in the year that I have been saving for when we get a flat screen (yes, we are way behind the times on this one, why replace something that was working perfectly, right???)

Painted the ivory a nice white, added some nice glass nobs and wallah.

Perfect!!!

Chris and Sarah bought us a new flat screen TV and Blu-ray DVD player for Christmas.

Out with the old, in with the new.

After placing the new cabinet in along with the TV,

I decided we needed a pretty chandelier above.

I found this treasure ($121.00) at Monticello.

Mike changed it from hard wire to plug in and hung it up for me.

I love how it turned out!!!

(Remember, I am not a photographer :)

This chair ($7.00 plus paint) I had at Monticello for a while, but didn't sell.

It was taking up space on the patio.

I thought about recovering it, but chose to paint it white instead.

It had an ugly peach colored fabric and now is very light pink on the cushion area and white on the frame with some distressing.

As I wear it in, I have noticed some cracking to the paint. I actually like how it looks.

The living room will be complete after the Christmas tree comes down and things are back to normal....(are things ever normal???)

Now I am keeping my eye out for a new couch.....

The New Year is on its way.

Mike and I will be heading to the beach property to

dig clams, ring in the New Year and do a little junkin of course.

We are supposed to have dry weather....YEAH

The Reason for the Season!

First I want to share my pet peeve.

The word "Xmas"

What is this? Why are people leaving the Christ out of Christmas???

I wont go to any store or tree farm that has a sign posted with "Xmas".

I realize it is a shorter version than the real word, but I don't like it!!!

Christ is the whole reason we are celebrating the season. Lets not forget that.

On a more positive note....

The lights are up and beautiful, the tree is decorated in my finest antique ornaments, the stockings are hung, the presents are bought.....OMGoodness the presents are not all bought!!!!

Today is my last workday this week, then its time to finish up some shopping, do a little bit of baking, lots of wrapping and just relaxing.

Taking it all in, the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas.

My favorite time of year.

I want to thank all the faithful customers at Monticello, friends and family for making this Christmas just as wonderful this year as last.

Merry Christmas to you all!

A Milestone Birthday

Yesterday was a big day for us at the Crumpacker household.

Sarah, my eldest, turned the BIG 21!!!!

I was honored that she wanted to spend her first night out in a bar with her mom and dad.

So we headed to the local pub in Washougal for a little grub and a drink.

Before you know it Sarah got really talkative (yep just like her ma.)

I called it quits early as I had to work this morning, but Chris, Sarah and Mike started playing pool, drinks were being consumed and needless to say I found a surprise in the sink when I got up this morning....Was someone feeling a little sick???? EEEWWWW

Isn't being able to drink legally fun???

A Little Christmas Decorating

I got the Christmas decorating bug last night and did a little mantel redo.

I love how it turned out!!!

All in my favorite colors, aqua blue, silver and green....

Now I just need to get the tree up.....

Mike has a new project.

He is going to start painting the bathroom.

I picked a nice shade of grey to go with my robins egg blue vanity.

For the Love of Pinecones

What is it about a pine cone that fascinates me?

When I think of a pine cone I think of Christmas & decorations

and all the things I can do with them.

You can paint them silver & gold, glitter them, turn them into a fabulous wreath,

use them on your Christmas table like I did below

or just place them in a bowl and sprinkle them with essential oils.

I can smell them already!!!!

Mike and I have a ritual during hunting season. He watches for deer and elk

and I look for pine cones.

I have him trained pretty well.

We will be driving in the Forrest and low and behold on the side of the road is a slew of pine cones. Of course we are at 4000 foot level and its snowing like a dickens, but he always thinks of me when he says "look, there is some more of your dumb pine cones" that's my queue to get out :)

Do you decorate with pine cones. I would love to hear all your ideas!!!

Also, just a reminder that the Monticello Old Fashioned Christmas Show at Monticello Marketplace is still going on until December 27th.
Us junkers are still bringing in wonderful junk. Be sure to check it out.

Giving Thanks & My New Project

This time of year is when the warm and fuzzy Holiday feeling

starts working it's magic on me.

Work is very lax this week, everyone is on vacation and we all have Thanksgiving fever!!!

I watch the daily news (once in a while) and realize our world is really in trouble.

I am thankful to have my family (healthy I might add), a job with benefits that pays the bills, cars to drive, food to eat, and friends that make having fun "FUN"

I hope this Thanksgiving you will take some time to reflect on all the good

and pray for who are less fortunate.

On a lighter note, this is a project that I need to get going on.

I love this old built in piece.

I have big plans for it that require the use of a hand saw (thanks honey), paint and some trim.

I plan on making a primitive curtain for the bottom.
I cant decide on linen or burlap???

I am hoping to debut her at the Monticello Christmas Show coming December 3rd.

A Special Order & Some Holiday Soap

I have been busy creating and crafting for the upcoming Monticello Christmas Show

and a special order for Parker's one year birthday party.

New scents of Blackberry Spice & Pumpkin Spice will be arriving at the show very soon.

(December 3rd to be exact)

Sarah's friend Jessica has a little boy who will turn 1 next week. She has been saving her baby food jars for a special party favor to hand out to all Parker's guests.

With the new scent of "Birthday Cake" I created these little handout all natural soy candles. She wanted just a basic label of black and white, so I choose Catsup as the font. I think they turned out really cute and smell wonderful.

She is going to place them all in a big basket to hand out at the party.

Wouldn't this idea be cute for a baby shower too?

Special orders can be created by me along with custom labels for soy candles and soaps.

Perfect for that special occasion.

Christmas On The Brain.......

Yes yes, it's true.

I have been thinking about Christmas for the last couple of weeks.

I know that it's due to the last minute push to get all my ducks in a row for the Crafts Unlimited Holiday Boutique,

in addition to finalizing my space for the incredible Monticello Christmas Show.

Christmas was confirmed when Mike and I went to Dennis Company and they were stocking their shelves with the cutest Christmas stuff ever!!!

Often I am reminded of Gods work just by what I see...and sometimes what I can not...

I grew up in Washougal, WA. It does have a funny name, native american in origin.

New Packaging & Some Pumpkins

Every once in a while I get the urge to create new packaging for my bath and body products.

It's getting to be Holiday time so I am busy making soap, lotion, body scrub and foot creme for my upcoming Crafts Unlimited Show coming up on November 5 & 6.

It is a wonderful Holiday Bazaar that incorporates antiques with fantastic crafts made by some incredible craftswomen and men. Click here for more info.

I used some pretty blue and white Amy Butler design paper for the base and created a cute paper tag for the top. For some reason it looks lots prettier in person...

Last weekend I took the girls to the Pumpkin Patch.

We got lots of great decor for the front of the house.

Wow..that stuff isn't cheap.....cha ching.

But fall is my favorite time to decorate.

And sweaty goats milk soap isn't good...

For the Love of Old

What is it that draws me to anything old.....

Is it the stories that "it" could tell?

Is it the history that you can see just looking at "it"?

Is it the beauty of time worn love that someone else has given "it"?

Leave it brown, black, chippy, worn, vintage and old...Don't change a thing.....

The beauty I see can't be replaced with a new coat of paint....

Don't get me wrong...I have come across some pieces that definitely needed some extra love...

a little white makeover to make it appealing.

But most of my pieces are originals.

Scarred with blemishes that make "it" old....

The Start of a Long Weekend!!!

Today is my Friday....Yeah!!!

The start of a long 4 day weekend.

The girls are back in school. Sidney a freshman, Shelby a senior and Sarah will be celebrating 21 in a few months. When I think back when I was in my 20's I never thought about what I would be like at 43....You know what though-I am exactly who I want to be!!!

Sassy, fun, bossy, confident, a mother and wife, with a professional career in health care,

a good friend to have and most of all free to live how I want to live.

Happy Labor Day to all the hard workers!!!

I have some great plans this weekend.

A little fishin with Mike, Sarah and Chris....

I have some junkin trips planned looking for some of this.....

And I will be busy getting ready for this.....

The fall show is just around the corner and there is sooooo much to do!!!

Saturday Was A Blast!!!

Debbie and Laurie of Worthy Goods put on the most incredible show and we could not have asked for better weather!!!

It was a beautiful day filled with great treasures

and wonderful friends, in addition to lots of eager shoppers.

Dream Home

Some peoples idea of a dream home is a little different than mine.

During our visit to the beach last week I asked Mike if we could drive to Nemah to check and see if the house we found two years ago was still for sale.

This house was my dream, even called the Realtor for all the details.

To my surprise it came with 100 acres of farmland and the price was just too much for us to afford.

My heart did flips when I saw it was still for sale.

However, in much more disrepair.

So here is my dream home in all her glory.....

Once she had beautiful sea foam green trim and an ivory base....she's a little chippy now.

A three story home with a wrap around porch!!!

The window in the kitchen is broke out so I peaked inside and snapped a picture.

My bed awaits. Can you believe this antique bed is still in the home.

Mike thinks someone is living in there illegally.

She is definitely a fixer upper. But in my eyes and heart she is beautiful...

Barn House Was A Blast!!!

Barn House was such a blast there was barely any time for picture taking.

So here are a few shots of my booth.

For some reason my fireplace didn't sell. It did get lots of attention though. So off to Clayson Farms it will go!!!

My friend Leah bought this wonderful Military Cot to place at the bottom of her bed.

I think if will look FAB!

This rocker with french grain sack, railroad sign and oyster sign will also go to Yakima with me.

2 Thumbs Up & A Day Of Rest

Let me just say WOW.

Kindred Roses gives J & J of the Barn House 2 thumbs up!!!

That was the most exciting and incredible show ever. I am blessed to have been a part of it.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the Crumpacker's needed a little rest and relaxation.

So we took off for a Sunday drive to Mt. St. Helens.

It was a beautiful day. Stopped in Kalama and did some shopping.

Wouldn't fit into the Subaru so back to pick up my goods tomorrow.

Sid and Spencer also enjoyed the trip. Sid and I getting a little crazy......

I wanted so bad to move that dang cloud!!!

Washington State is really beautiful and green too!

Back to reality tomorrow :(

When You Least Expect It!!!

Just when you least expect it, you stumble on some of the best junk around....Free to boot!

Yesterday evening Mike took me up the River Road in Washougal to pick up a chippy bookcase I saw on Craigslist for free....

After going the wrong way...yep...house is on the other side of the river

(glad that was Mikes mistake :)

We pulled into the long driveway.

The lady of the house had a huge fire in her burn pile..

To my dismay (yes, I screamed out loud) she was burning a vintage settee frame....

However, on the other side of the burn pile was a pile of free junk...

Here is a pic of the goods I hauled home.

To the left is the chippy farmhouse bookcase that I picked up...Very primitive I like it!!!

I also brought home an old wicker rocker, very unusual, needs a tad bit of work on the cushion..

Metal and wooden farm chair...Already creamy white.

Old lattice, vintage light fixtures, galvanized feed trough that looks like an old toboggan, decorative cinder blocks, and a copper bucket.

This was the nicest lady, we hit it off right away...Kindred Spirits of Junk!!!

I have been busy painting, painting and painting for the Barn House Flea.

Next Saturday already....aaaahhhh

It was time to head to the beach.

I brought a few projects and painted some of this....

We went for a drive and met Mr. Goat at a cute little French Alpine Goat Farm.
and got some of this.....

Mike spent a couple of hours mowing some of this (1.5 acres to be exact)....

Then he did some of this......

Time to eat so we made some of this.....YUM

And after a long day of chasing birds and running on the beach, Benelli did some of this......

Decision Made

First, I wanted to give you an update on my buffet (previous post, paint it or leave it).

I am very happy that I did not choose to paint that beautiful piece and she sold within the first few minutes of the show. YEAH

However, this piece that I got yesterday needed some painting!!

This sweet little desk gets one more coat and then some lovely antiquing

and will be ready for her debut....

I have been busy getting all my ducks in a row for the upcoming Barn House Flea.

Portland Expo Was Hot Hot Hot

Had a great (HOT) time at Expo this last weekend. Best show ever!!!

Visited with my friends Joy aka Auntie Joy, Maryann and Shannon (may have spelled her name wrong-sorry), Christa aka Chloe Rose and the sweet ladies from Manor Bourne.

Oh and lets not forget Erin aka Rickety Picket.

She made that great Vintage sign below. It will look wonderful in my home!!!

See Ya At Expo!!!

Hi my friends!
This coming weekend, you can see the great new things I’ve found since the last time we met. I’ll be at the Portland Expo on July 10th & 11th for the big Palmer/Wirfs show.

I am located outside O-144 right next to my friend Christa from Chloe Rose!!!

She has made some wonderful treasures for the show!!

I’ll be listed there, along with my location.
This show is the largest Antique & Collectible Show in the country with 1,400

booths both inside and out.
There are several exhibits that you may enjoy: In the outside selling area, there is a collection of Tear Drop Trailers, those adorable ‘40’s era camping trailers.

The hours on Saturday are 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

The Expo is located in Portland, Oregon and to get there take exit 306B off I-5 north or south. Adult admission is $7.00 for Saturday and is good for both days.

If you wish to come as an Early Admission buyer, that cost is $30 and you are admitted during exhibitor set-up on Friday, the 9th.

Outside exhibitors start setting up at 8am and the inside opens at 9am.
Parking at the Expo is $7.00 or at Portland Meadows Horse Race Track for $5.00

(Shuttle provided).
There is food and beverage available but bring your favorite walking shoes. This is a show worth spending some time at.

You never know what treasure you’ll end up taking home with you!

Picker for the Day & God Bless America

First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!!!

God Bless America-where we are free to choose how to live as we please.....

Secondly, I would like to share my very own picker experience.

Mike is doing some handyman work for a lady down the street.

She is also wanting to hold a garage sale soon and needs help getting things in order.

One day he came home and said "you really need to come look in her garage" so I did.

Let me just say Holy Cow!!!!! Looks like a mess right????

Oh but under all this mess is some incredible treasures.

We dug this out of the back. Took two hours to empty out all the nuts and bolts. We did find some antique cupboard hardware, old frogs, old casters, and antique bottles.

This was hanging from the rafters.....

Railroad lanterns, two to boot!!!

This bed spring is also hanging from the rafters, along with an old bed, tongue and groove,

old metal mailbox etc.

Some of the other items not pictured are an old farm door, metal table with little casters, galvanized boxes and an old galvanized gate.

One With Nature...

If you know anything about me, you know that I have some cute nicknames.

Like "Last minute Lucy", "Spur of the moment Julie"

Hey, it's a plan as long as its done 10 minutes before leaving.
I love flying by the seat of my pants!!!!

So when I said I was going junkin this weekend...Well that only lasted for about 4 hours.

Mike had better plans for me this weekend.

A little woodcutting, being one with nature.

So Friday after work we headed to Mt. Adams.

Saturday we found the perfect tree.

If you are into woodcutting you know what the perfect tree consists of....

It is close to the road, without a lot of branches and minimal bark (Mike has me trained well :)

However it wasn't the Huckleberry Smoothie that we went for....

Nope it was the Huckleberry Pie..

Yum!!!

8th Grade Graduation and New Treasures At Monticello

Here are a few items I will be taking to Monticello this afternoon.

Love these Victorian boots.

So petite and tiny....

This little file box is definitely from a Portland, OR Medical Office.

One of the tags says "Providence Foundation"

I can picture this in a craft or art room, holding all kinds of trinkets or paints.

I also have some goats milk soap all prepared just for you!!!

Last night was Sid's 8th grade graduation. I can't believe she will be in high school next year!!!

Off To The Beach.....

It's about time we get some decent weather, so to take advantage of it Mike, the dogs and I

(kids don't wanna go :( ) are headed to the beach....

70 degrees at the beach is a rarety. Can't wait!

What a Weekend!!!

Mike, Sidney and I had the most incredible time at The Farm Chicks Show.

I have never experienced such a mass rush of buyers for about 6 hours straight.

Standing room only!!!

Got home about a couple of hours ago.

But you know our "work" is never done.

Empty the car, go to the storage room and empty the U-haul, then take the U-haul back, post on my lovely blog...then crash from pure exhaustion.

And you know what....I can't wait to do it all over again :)

On our way home today we stopped in Hermiston to shop this cute little antique store.

Low and behold we run into Julie & Jeff who also were doing a little shopping.

Julie and I have a lot in common!!!

Fishin Fools for husbands (they were very much involved in sharing fishing stories while Julie and I looked for treasures) and we both love anything galvanized, rusty, primitive and unique.

Needless to say I have lots of shopping to do before The Barn House Flea.

How Was Your Weekend???

This is a down feather bed re purposed into a cushion for my chippy vintage wooden chaise lounge with wooden wheels...so cute (sorry forgot to take pic of the chaise)

You will just have to come to The Farm Chicks Show to see it....Oh darn!!!!!

I recovered these wonderful chairs with vintage grain sack fabric. The turned out perfect!

Camping this weekend was very relaxing!!!

Is This A Test???

Do you ever feel like life is a test?

Last week was stressful to say the least. Started out Tuesday, Benelli (our family dog) was very sick and needed to go to the vet.

She has eaten a sock and needed to have it surgically removed.

This required cutting her intestine open and removing the sock that was stuck.

(Please be aware of what your pet eats!!!)

She came home on Wednesday afternoon, but would not eat a thing.

Thursday morning Sidney (my youngest) woke me up at 4am in crying pain on her right side (appendices you might think)

So off to the ER we went. Arrived at 5am.

After several diagnostic tests it was determined Sidney has a kidney stone stuck in her ureter. OUCH.

Surgery then at 8pm got home.

Meanwhile while I was at ER, Mike had to take Benelli back to the vet.

She was given a shot of antibiotic and we were hoping she would finally start eating.

Oh, I forgot to mention Mike and I are supposed to be leaving for JBUGS Friday morning.......

After arrangements were made for Sidney and Benelli, Thanks MOM

we were off to Redmond, OR

It was nice to see Peggy, Lisa and the girls.

Yesterday Benelli had to go back to be opened back up. She was infected....Mike picked her up this morning and she is doing well. (thank goodness)

Sidney went back to the Urologist this morning and is also doing pretty good.

So if this is a test Lord I hope I passed!!!!!!!!!

To my delight I received the best email of the whole weekend.

If I Feel Like It!

I'm beat!!!!

This weekend is going to be dedicated to

"if I feel like it"

Working full time and having a business on the side has got me super tired this week.

After work has been dedicated to making soap, lotion and painting picture frames,

not to mention mom and wife duties.....Sometimes you just have to say enough is enough.

I am taking the weekend off (Ok that really never happens, but I like to say and think it :)

I promised Mike I would get up early and go fishing with him on Saturday or Sunday.

Us wives need to spend some "him" time once in awhile.

Lord knows he spends lots of me time.

(at Monticello, fixing wooden broken things, redoing pieces that require the drill, saw, etc.)

I could not do this without him.

Thanks honey.

So I hope all my blog readers take some time for themselves this weekend

or spend some "him" time with the hubby.
We kind of need them :)

My Baby

That's her with the beautiful red hair!!!

This weekend was spent with family!!!

My baby Sidney turns 14 today, so Saturday we celebrated with family and friends.

A long trip to Washington Square and Cheesecake Factory put a large dent in my pocketbook :) Have you ever had their Red Velvet Cheesecake???

YUM

Sunday we enjoyed our day outdoors.

Fishing at Rowland Lake and Northwestern resulted Mike in one large trout, me a sunburn and lots of laughs with Sarah, Chris and one of Sid's best buds, Madisyn. That's her above.

I have a long week ahead.

Sunday was the last day of the Monticello Antique Mall Home and Garden Show.

So I will be making several trips after work to pick up my goods.

I also have a store order to fill, soap to make and items to price for the upcoming

Mother's Day Plant & Garden Fair coming to Camas, WA. May 8.

Just in time for Mother's Day.

So say a little prayer that I can fit this all in with work!!!!

What a fantastic weekend!!!

Debbie, Laurie and I headed to the Expo for the BIG Garage Sale.

Found lots of treasures.

Got home in time to find out Shelby passed her drivers test!!!!

She is now a licensed driver....(aaahhhh)

Saturday afternoon Mike and I enjoyed some time in the Forrest cutting some firewood.

Today, painting and sunning my pasty white skin....

Here is a little vignette I put together a couple of weeks ago.

The girls think the doll head is a little creepy.

This cart came in handy on Saturday. How do you like the liner I made???

Blessings come in all shapes and sizes.

They sometimes can be a person or an event...They take on many forms.

Yesterday I was feeling very down.

This world has a way of making us feel unsure of ourselves and our skills...

Then to make things worse-sometimes I analyze "why" which can drive me crazy.

Talking to family and friends didn't seem to help....

But just when I least expected it my blessing stopped by my booth in the afternoon.

My blessing was a stranger, however we had lots in common.

She was from my same town, enjoyed the same things...

Made me feel better about myself and skills.

Somehow the man above knows just what we need.

Here's to all the Blessings in our lives.

I am truly Blessed.

My $20 Table.....

Yep, that's right just $20.00 for this wooden beauty in all her splendor....

I am so happy with the way she looks in my dining room.

I will be taking my vintage farm table that I got from Natalie (aka Sparrow) last year over to Monticello today for a little booth redo.

It used to reside here but was too big for my little space.

We had a great weekend at the beach property...

Saw a little rain, sun, wind and heard a little thunder.

It was nice to get away if only for a couple of days.

Here's to wishin I was baskin in the sun....

Today I am thankful for my wonderful friends.

I have made great friends since I started this new endeavor.

Some give advise freely and some have to be coaxed a little bit, some I cried with, laughed with, shared wonderful junkin stories with and some not so wonderful junkin stories with.

They have made me feel welcome to this community, loved and cared for.

I hope in return they feel like I have made them feel the same.

Be sure to tell your friends how much they mean to you!!!

Life would be dull and lonely without them.
